Where For Art Thou Romeo?

Every so often, we come across a brand that shows us the right way of incorporating streetwear and opulence into the label without losing its artistic direction that is authentically from a culture they understand. With that said, we'd like to welcome you into the intricate design world of Romeo Hunte. Named after it's Brooklyn-born and raised creator and designer, the brand harnesses a design philosophy committed to sustainable fashion. Since 2014, when the label emerged, it began working with a mix of refurbished fabrics and luxe materials to curate chic collections that relate to the designer's culture and community. By 2016, Romeo Hunte was being referred to as the "Designer to Watch" in the fashion industry by WWD and Essence. Initially, only a womenswear line beloved by Zendaya, Beyoncé, and our forever first lady, Michelle Obama, included unisex pieces to meld the sexes. For Spring 2019, the line debuted its first men's collection, and quickly put the industry on notice- Romeo Hunte is a powerhouse label.

The brand's execution of impeccably tailored outerwear, mixed media swimwear, relaxed-fit graphic t-shirts, and the strategic use of prints and luxury materials such as fur, leather, and cashmere are a few reasons other brands seek out the label to collaborate. In previous collections, Romeo Hunte has featured designs with Coogi, Swarovski, and Teva, but nothing compares to their latest collaboration with the designer's long-time mentor Tommy Hilfiger for Fall '20. Tommy Hilfiger's eponymous label donated 12 archived vintage works upcycled into cool, fresh ready-to-wear pieces. The collection includes half denim/half PVC jackets, fringe-accented suiting, head-to-toe leather looks, accented with chic face masks and headgear that speak to our current wardrobe safety guidelines. The cut and sew label continues its focus on transitional, practical pieces with an edgy aesthetic that showcases the balance of masculine and feminine silhouettes throughout its collections. Take it from us, with a plethora of transformable options; this luxe-streetwear label is not just a wardrobe necessity; it's a requirement.
